Absolutely THE BEST!

I have owned and seen many books on parasitology in both human and veterinary medicine over the past 40 years. This is the BEST I have ever seen. The many many many color photos are magnificent and the topics are thoroughly covered! I would recommend this to all veterinarians and veterinary students.

Too detailed for quick reference in a clinical setting.

This is a great reference if you want extremely detailed information and great color photos. But, I find in clinical practice that I want a 'quick reference'. If I want to brush up on life cycles or proper medications for treating parasites I think "Veterinary Parasitology" by William Foreyt is a better reference. The one drawback is that the photos are in black and white. But, I don't care about that. The outline format of Foreyt's book is perfect for quick info on the run in a busy veterinary clinic.

An Excellent Advanced Text on Electromagnetism.

Though specifically prepared for electrical engineering students, the second edition of "Electromagnetics" by Edward J. Rothwell and Michael J. Cloud could very well serve an excellent advanced text for physicists and chemists who wish to advance their knowledge in the fundamentals and application of electricity, magnetism and electrodynamics. The general content matter is at a slightly greater level than the famous text, "Classical Electrodynamics (3rd ed. )" by John David Jackson, though it leaves out aspects of relativity and relativistic electrodynamics of charges and currents. The first five chapters of the text lays exhaustively and systematically the foundations and fundamentals of electricity and magnetism in well defined symbols and notations and in a succinct and lucid manner.
Its greatest strengths are displayed in chapters six and seven dealing with integral equations in electromagnetics in general, with applications to many standard electrical devices in the latter part of chapter seven.
Every chapter is followed by an abundant set of problems, which furthers the understanding of the contents of the chapters. The text further carries an excellent set of appendices which includes topics like dyadic analysis, six pages of useful mathematical identities, and a discussion of various coordinate systems.
Properties and identities of three of the most common special functions (Bessel, Legendre, and Spherical Harmonics) are tabulated in detail, followed by a comprehensive bibliography of other published works on electromagnetism. All in all the book should serve an excellent text for doctoral students in electrical engineering and physics. Congratulations to the CRC Press for publishing such an excellent text.

About the Author
John Carroll is currently Director, Geostorage Processing Engineering for Gas Liquids Engineering, Ltd. in Calgary. With more than 20 years of experience, he supports other engineers with software problems and provides information involving fluid properties, hydrates and phase equilibria. Prior to that, he has worked for Honeywell, University of Alberta as a seasonal lecturer, and Amoco Canada as a Petroleum Engineer. John has published a couple of books, sits on three editorial advisory boards, and he has authored/co-authored more than 60 papers. He has trained many engineers on natural gas throughout the world, and is a member of several associations including SPE, AIChE, and GPAC. John earned a Bachelor of Science (with Distinction) and a Doctorate of Philosophy, both in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. He is a registered professional engineer in the province of Alberta and New Brunswick, Canada.

An excellent review of gas hydrates!

This book is a welcome addition to my library. It provides a useful introduction to the subject of gas hydrates. I especially like the discussion of the tools for predicting hydrate formation. The discussion on combatting hydrates is also very useful. I recommend this book to all engineers working in the natural gas business.

The Nobel laureate Fritz Haber will always be remembered by Chemists for his process to make ammonium nitrate from the atmosphere through iron catalysis. When his son, the author, witnessed a protest in Germany at a meeting to honor his father for his achievements he was compelled to write this book.
Fritz Haber is also thought of by many as the father of chemical warfare. Ludwig Haber offers insight into the personal life and beliefs of his father, while attempting to exhonorate his father for his role in CW. He ends up not being able to truly exhonorate him, but does offer a fatalistic opinion of his father's role as a patriotic proponent that ends up a pesimistic defeatist (in regards to CW).
The Poisonous Cloud is a complex, richly detailed work on the history of CW in WWI. The author is an economic historian by profession, and his approach is refreshing. Detailed are the individual battles that CW was used in, it's gain in prominence by military commanders, the industrial aspects of weaponization, and various lesser known incidences of CW.
The Poisonous Cloud is one of the best source books on CW in WWI I have ever read, and is derfinitely thought provoking. Through detailed analysis the author discussed the utility of CW, and concludes several findings that are difficult to refute. Particularly, the advantage CW made on the battlefield was at a disproportionate cost to industry at home that drew resources away from conventional weapons. Furthermore, he points out that unlike the tank and aircraft, after WWI there no unifying doctrine or tactical purpose was devised for CW.
