About the Author
Good Wives and Warriors is the creative partnership established by Becky Bolton and Louise Chappell after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art. Their experimental collaborative approach to illustration and installation has led to exhibitions and a wide range of projects all over the world.

Beautiful and Imaginative Alice In Wonderland Coloring Book printed on both sides of non-perforated paper

[[VIDEOID:a459bc2647a07224a4601a9758706301]]“Escape to Wonderland” is the second coloring book I have by Good Wives and Warriors (artists Becky Bolton and Louise Chappell.) It is a smaller format book (at approximately 7.5 x 7.25 inches) but is packed with lots of fantastic deisgns. If you include the title page, there are a whopping 96 pages of designs in this book. The book tells the excerpted story (both in written and design form) of Alice in Wonderland. The characters are imagined in new ways which makes it so much fun to color. I have a more traditional version of Alice and I know I will like this new coloring book just as much as my other one. Some of the designs have intricate and small details that may prove challenging for some individuals.
The designs are printed on both sides of heavyweight cream colored non-perforated paper. Twenty-six of the designs spread across two pages. In my book, these two page designs line up very well and if I press the book flat, I don't have any lose of design into the binding.
The attached cover of the book is well made and has gold foil, two shades of blue touches. You can color the remainder of the cover (front and back) if you wish. The inside of the cover has fold-outs (front and back) and a white on blue line print which you can also color. The rest of the pages are designs, so you can literally color this book on every page, if you choose to do so. A few of the pages have words on them and those are generally incorporated into the design. A couple of them are primarily the words with a small amount of coloring designs on the page. The binding is sewn rather than glued, so removing pages will require a few snips of threads every few pages. I won't be taking mine apart as I think it is a lovely little book that tells a story that I want to keep together.
My alcohol-based markers bled through immediately. None of my ultra-fine point water-based markers bled through but you could see the fainest of shadows on the backside of the page when I used really dark colors (both Stabilo 88 and Staedler triplus fineliners.) My India ink artist pens and my gel pens did not bleed through, did not have shadows and, in the case of the gel pens, did not need extra drying time. All of my coloring pencils did well and performed as I would expect for the brand and type (soft or hard lead.)
This series is one of the prettiest of the small coloring books I have in my collection. They are extremely portable and fit in my purse well. I hope to see more coloring books by these talented artists in the future.

Down the Rabbit Hole, We Go!!! Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for all your Coloring Needs! AAA+++

This book is spectacular, a friend of mine sent it over from the UK for my daughter. It was only fair since he sent my son, a Dr. Who coloring book, as well. Dr. Who: The Colouring Book (Doctor Who) and the US Version is coming out soon. My son is a gigantic Dr. Who fan, and my daughter is a fan of Alice and of most coloring books, since she colors all the time. So this was a no brainer and turned out to be a wonderful gift for her.
This book was done beautifully and has excellent craftsmanship. High Quality pages that feature intricate designs of the Alice in Wonderland themes, such as Alice, the gryphon, the white rabbit, dodo, the cheshire cat and much more. The outer cover has beautiful metallics, as shown and the pages are a lightly textured cream color. There are a total 96 pages, filled to the brim with double-sided images and some images, even have some space left for your own creativity. It's truly a well done book, much akin to the "Secrets in the Garden" series, which she also has and loves. This book is smaller and square, so a bit easier to bring around. She loves to color in the car, as well, so it's nice to throw in her carry bag and take it along.
She generally uses colored pencils which are fine. This time, she is using her markers and if you use markers, I would suggest a lighter touch and a backing page, in case of bleed through. I have included some pics of the designs for you, Hope it Helps:)

A modern way to see a favourite!

It is paperback, but the covers are embossed card, in a lovely cream, blue and gold pattern. The spine is glue-bound which tends to be sturdier than string bound.
The pages are double sided, and there is no border around them. This of course, prevents colourists from finishing the picture completely without breaking the spine to enter the binding. The double sided pages do bleed with alcohol markers, although I had nil bleeding with water based markers.
The paper is well textured, allowing for a large number of pencil layers, meaning that you can blend a lot more than some books!

I would recommend this book to any book lover! It is a great way to remember the classic story while still indulging in a favourite hobby. The pictures are a great size for any colourist, at any level. The line thicknesses are consistent, making it a great book for those with vision issues.
The size and diversity of intricacies in the book makes it a great buy for anyone with varied concentration. Some images will require a heavy time investment and others won’t. This makes it great for anyone with mental health issues, as it can make it hard to concentrate sometimes.
