Anat Baniel approaches special needs children as complete

Anat really sees these childres as complete human beings and that approach allows her to see what they CAN do now. When they actually get that message, they can respond to varying degrees, depending on the child.

She has several videos on YouTube, so go there to get acquainted with her. One video she is talking to a group of parents giving info on how she approaches and contacts these children. She mentions the comments given about her techniques by Michael Merzenich who has appeared on PBS regarding brain plasticity. Anat was using that knowledge from her experience before it was so broadly accepted by most physicians.

AND, chances are it will take time and consistency for a special needs child to move forward, Patience and acceptance from parents is critical to allow the best for these kids.

Greater than great!

My son has been getting the therapy since April 2013 on a regular basis with the practitioners certified by Anat Baniel, he was diagnosed with CP in early childhood,and in fact he has severe delay of development of his motor, speech and psychical skills, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. ABM became our main choice at the age of 7,5 when we have already tried a lot of other therapies, and we sticked to it as it brings a lot of benefits for his motor and psychological development. Also I found that it helped a lot to improve his hearing function as he suffers from central auditory processing disorder. I was very impressed after reading Anat's explanation about an autistic brain and its troubles at the website of ABM method. I am very grateful to Anat and all her staff and certified practitioners that they made this wonderful therapy and books available for us and our kids. Thank you very much!

Good read on memory improvement

Good short book on improving your memory. The book helps you a lot in learning how to focus well and how to overcome distractions. The exercises to improve your focus is well written and easy to follow. I found it fascinating on how it teaches you the techniques to learning a language. It was an interesting read.

This guide is excellent! I have read many books on the subject and by far this is the best. It's simple and concise. All you have to do is immediately start practicing these techniques. This book is very well organized, which facilitates its understanding and memorization. It is a fascinating read and is one of those books that I keep referring back to. After reading several books on memory this one took a different approach and I found it the most helpful.

A great book outlining the complicated history of dinosaurs.

This book is full of maps and charts on when, where, and how the dinosaurs lived. It is an excellent resource for seriously interested people. The only thing I didn't like about it were the sometimes misleading illustrations. If I remember correctly, Tyrannosaurus is pictured with three manual digits.

Benton does a good job giving an overview of when and where dinosaurs roamed the earth. The art needed a little more attention to detail and the maps could have been more precise for my taste. But, all in all, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to all.

A fantastic text for those in the medical field who wish to give evidence-based professional advice on nutrition.

I am a medical student who purchased this book hoping for a professional resource to guide patients toward proper nutrition during sports activities, on specific diets, and during disease states. This book is an excellent resource for this purpose.

Pros:
- Chapters are divided into major diseases by organ or organ system (GI tract contains IBD, celiac sprue, tropical sprue, IBS, diverticulosis; there are separate chapters for pancreatic disease and liver disease, etc.)
- Most major diseases are covered with evidence-based advice using references given at the end of the chapter
- A few guidelines are given at the end of the chapter (only a few, not enough for each disease)
- The pathophysiology is briefly covered for each disease
- Clinical correlations are often practical and current
Cons:
- The book is written in British English, which normally isn't a problem for me, but there seem to be an overabundance of less-than-obvious crossovers ("hypolactasia" rather than lactose intolerance for those of us who spilled the tea into the pond)
- The organ-based divisions could be frustrating to someone without a background which covers the anatomy
- Not all disease systems are covered, but this is an excellent general textbook for understanding

I would also highly recommend the sport and exercise nutrition volume as it does an excellent job of distinguishing evidence-based understanding of nutrition from "bro science" while providing adequate scope and level of detail for most exercise pursuits.

Great book, with one MAJOR publishing flaw..

This book was a slow start for me, but once it grabbed my attention it was hard to put down and I finished it in less than 2 days despite the fact that it's over 400 pages. It's heart wrenching to think this actually happened, that this poor man and his family as well as the victims' families had to suffer for so long due to an inefficient and corrupt legal system. It is packed full of details, and at times can be confusing with the jumping back and forth between people and cities and years, but I would still recommend this book.

The biggest disappointment was the pictures plopped right in the middle of the book that TELL YOU THE ENDING! Really infuriating and made the second half of the book less interesting because I already knew the end result. Extremely frustrating to ruin a story that I was actually enjoying. Not sure whose idea that was, but it wasn't a good one. So make sure to somehow cover up those pictures unless you want the ending to be spoiled.

A true horror story

How this man survived for as long as he did is a true testament to the human spirit. Without the two angels in his life, Annette and Renee, his sisters, he would not have made it. The cruelty that this man suffered both physical and mental at the hands of "authorities" is appalling. Thank God for the good people who relentlessly followed their conscience and finally prevailed. It's a tough read but it's true and there is inspiration and hope that there are more people who seek the truth no matter who you are.

I enjoyed this series very much. I loved all the Westmorelands . I recommend it to all!!!!! I can't wait to get started on the next ones. The stories and the characters were wonderful. I always enjoy reading Brenda Jackson books!!!!!

Brenda does it again

I have been addicted to the Westmorland series since I read 'Delaney's Dessert Sheikh'!!! I am on the fourth Westmorland box set and I can't wait to get to the fifth!! I am in love with vivid love stories and depth of the characters.

Great Reads but Very Predictable & Repetitive

These are good books but I don't like that they always end up happily ever after. That's just not realistic at all! I like that it's a series that connects a family though. Also the book had a lot of misspelling/incorrectly used words.

Ronald A. Reis has written young adult biographies of Eugenie Clark, Jonas Salk, Mickey Mantle, and Ted Williams, as well as books on the Dust Bowl, the New York Subway System, African Americans and the Civil War, and the World Trade Organization, all for Chelsea House. He is the technology department chair at Los Angeles Valley College.

Great book! Covers many interesting information I did not know about!

Dear reader,
I bought this book for my English 28 class at Los Angeles Valley College. It is easy to say that Reis's report on the African American's involvement in the Civil War is very dense (in a positive way). I was surprised in learning about Contraband, the main reason for the war, why did the Confederate states support slavery and why did the Union states not support slavery?. The factual information is not written dryly but instead it is written interestingly appealing. I was immersed into the reading after reading the first couple of sentences.
I, Jose Romo, believe that many Americans are not fully aware of its country's history. When I attended elementary school and middle school I was not taught about the history of America in depth compared to the novel by Ron Reis.
I recommend that you read this historical non-fiction novel.
